A: We offer
classes and programs in Makeup Artistry and Print Hair Styling. Please
view attached document for specific descriptions of what we offer.
Q:
What is the difference between the Professional Program and the Masters
Program?
A: The Professional Program is a 4-week program, which also is equivalent
to the first 4 weeks of the Masters Program. This program will put you
at the level to do Bridal, Special Event, Makeover and Retail level makeup.
The total cost for this program is $5,670 with all equipment. If you complete
the Professional Program, you can always continue and interview for the
Masters Program.
The Masters Program is our most popular program. It is a full 10-week
program that will put you at the level to do makeup for Fashion, Editorial,
HD TV, Film, Runway and Avant-Garde. It is most popular because we offer
Business, Media Marketing, Hair Styling Workshop, Beauty Lighting, 4 days
of photos shoots, 8 page portfolio and your own website. The total cost
with all equipment is $13,420. This is a selective program, therefore,
you will need to submit an Essay to the Board of Directors and interview
with the owner, Margaret Kimura.
Q: Do I have to have previous experience in this industry?
A: You do not need to have any previous experience to attend MKC. Our
classes are designed to teach you from the very beginning of makeup and
educate you to the most advance techniques.
Q: When should I apply? Submit my essay for the Masters Program?
Set up my phone Interview?
A: MKC’s classes book up about 3 months in advance. The recommended
application submission is 3-6 months prior to your start date. Applications
are always being accepted. If you are applying for the Masters Program
or the Works Program, you should submit your essay 3-6 months prior to
your start date. The Board of Directors meet on Tuesdays or Thursdays
every week. Result will be given the next day. Phone or in person interviews
with Margaret Kimura are scheduled within the week you finalize your financial
plan with an MKC Counselor.
Q: How much are the programs and courses? How much are the kits
and equipment for MKC?
A: MKC is up front with all tuition costs and equipment costs. Please
view Tuition Breakdown Document that is attached to this email. Equipment
ranges from $50 - $2500. Please see attached Set E Kit document for a
detailed breakdown. For specific questions call a MKC Counselor at 1-877-798-1785
x81
Q: Do you offer financial aid? Do I need a co-signer?
A: MKC offers a Smart Option Loan through Sallie Mae. With the Smart Option
Student Loan, you'll establish and build your credit by making interest-only
payments while in school, and for 6 months after graduation. Making payments
while in school reduces the total cost of your loan, which could save
you hundreds — even thousands — of dollars over the life of
your loan.
If you are under the age of 26, we highly recommend you apply with a co-signer.
A Co-signer’s good credit may help you qualify and/or lower your
interest rate, saving you even more money. Don’t have a co-signer?
Call MKC today and we will try to help you come up with a financial plan.
Visit SallieMae.com for more details or set up an application appointment
with a MKC Counselor.
Q: Where am I going to live?
A: MKC does not have on campus living, but we do have a list of recommended
places to stay that are near the campus. Please call a MKC Counselor at
1-877-798-1785 x81 to get a list of recommendations sent to you or reply
to this email.
Q: Do I have to pay my tuition up front?
A: MKC does require you to pay tuition up front. A 25% deposit is due
to hold your spot in any course. A $1,000 deposit is due to hold your
spot in any program. We require another payment a month prior to your
start date, and the balance must be paid 1 week prior to your start date.
If you need to work out other payment plans, please speak with your MKC
Counselor.
Q: What happens after I graduate? Do you offer job placement?
If I need advice on my career, can I meet with a counselor or director?
A: MKC provides you with many career-training tools while you are in session.
In your business and marketing classes you will learn how to start your
business and how to grow your business upon graduation. MKC provides the
Masters and the Works students access to an Alumni Job Board. We post
jobs and networking events weekly on our alumni page and also send out
email notifications when a referral comes in. This is a freelancing industry
and all of our teachers are working and are known for taking qualified
students as an assistant on jobs. We don’t directly place you in
a job, but with our education, we have a success rate of 90% for our alumni.
Once you are accepted to MKC, you are now a part of the MKC Family. We
are always available for meetings and career meetings. Call a MKC Counselor
any time to schedule an appointment.
Q: How old do I have to be to attend MKC? What other requirements
should I have?
A: MKC requires you to be at least 18 years of age. If you are under the
age of 18, you must have a sign waiver to attend by your parent or legal
guardian. You must also obtain a high school diploma or equivalent.
Q: Am I only going to have one teacher? Does Margaret Kimura teach
any classes?
A: All of MKC’s teachers have between 5-30 years experience in the
industry. In order to teach any of our courses, all of our teachers must
be currently working in the industry. Our students deserve the most recent
techniques and information that are in the industry today. The owner,
Margaret Kimura, is very involved in her school and does teach Success
Coaching, Marketing and Advance courses. When attending MKC, you will
learn from the best and be the best!
Q: Do you offer online classes?
A: At the time, MKC doesn’t offer online courses. We are focused
